Former Test batsman Marcus North is leading the fight for Western Australia as they seek to deny Victoria maximum points in their MCG Sheffield Shield game.
North was unbeaten on 79 at tea on Saturday's final day, with the Warriors 2-165, having been set an unlikely target of 381.
North batted stubbornly and survived strong lbw shouts from pacemen Peter Siddle, when on 51, and Scott Boland, when on 77.
The 34-year-old veteran, who had faced 206 balls, combined with 20-year-old first-gamer Will Bosisto, 36 not out, for an unbroken 102-run stand, after they came together shortly before lunch.
Earlier, Test quick Peter Siddle showed plenty of fire, hitting young opener Cameron Bancroft on the front of the helmet, then dismissing him with the following ball.
John Hastings claimed the other wicket of John Rogers.
But Test aspirant, legspinner Fawad Ahmed, lacked the penetration that helped him to 6-68 in the first innings, with 0-43 from his 11 overs.
