The chefs catering for Norway's 109 Winter Olympics athletes have no small task.

But a mistake occurred when 15,000 eggs were delivered to their kitchens, instead of the 1500 intended.

The chefs blamed a Google translation typo for the order.

Following the delivery, the kitchen team returned the 13,500 eggs, but not before the chefs were able to post a photo of the funny mix-up.

Tore Ovrebo, head of the Norwegian team, blamed a typo for the error, and said he was worried about what would happen to all the excess eggs.

“The eggs was more like a misunderstanding than something that we needed, so it was an extra zero on the order, so 1,500 to 15,000,” he said with a rueful laugh.

“They will probably use them I guess and I don’t know, maybe the people that supplied us with them will take them back I don’t know. It’s not a big issue.”

Chef Ståle Johansen said the kitchen team would be cooking "almost 24 hours a day" to feed the athletes their rigorous diet.
