When the BBC spoke to Brenda, from the town of Bristol, to gauge the public’s reaction to UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s call for snap elections, they got a strong response.
She told the reporter: “You’re joking, not another one, oh for god’s sake,” she said.
“I can’t, honestly… I can’t stand this. There is too much politics going on at the moment. Why does she need to do it?”

The response appears to have captured the mood of the UK residents, who only last year endured a divisive campaign over the Brexit referendum and before that, a referendum on Scottish independence.
“We need a general election and we need one now,” May said in a dramatic announcement yesterday outside her Downing Street office.
“We have at this moment a one-off chance to get this done while the European Union agrees its negotiating position and before the detailed talks begin,” she said.
But judging by the reaction of Brenda from Bristol and others, many other citizens are less enthusiastic.
Her reaction has already become a viral meme and remixed to dance music.
