After waiting so long for a State of Origin series win, NSW back-rower Greg Bird says there's no way the Blues are treating game three like a dead rubber.
Bird says clinching the series in Sydney last Wednesday to end Queensland's run of eight straight series wins was the highlight of his rugby league career.
But if Maroons' fans think Bird and his teammates are going to be in party mode for the final game in this year's Origin, they have another think coming.
"We want to go out and make it a whitewash," said Bird, who had endured six series defeats before this year.
"You want to go out and finish the series on a positive. We don't want to be holding the shield up after getting pumped at Suncorp Stadium - no one wants that."
Bird returned to club duties last weekend in Gold Coast's 19-18 defeat to St George Illawarra.
The 30-year-old will enjoy a bye this weekend, however, and says the chance to rest his body will be a welcome one ahead of game three against the Maroons.
"At this time of the year, from my perspective, it's probably good having a freshen up," Bird said.
"After backing up from Origin, it is quite tiring on the body."
