NRL club powerbrokers Penrith's Phil Gould and South Sydney's Nick Pappas have rejected suggestions of a possible breakaway competition amid rumours of disenchantment with the game's administration.
NRL boss Dave Smith has come under some fire for his handling of negotiations of rugby league's broadcast deal.
Club chairmen are expected to discuss the issue of that and future funding during a phone hook-up on Monday.
However Panthers general manager Gould and Rabbitohs chairman Pappas say a 'Super League-style" breakaway competition simply won't happen.
"Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing dj vu when it comes to reporting on NRL/Fox/TV Rights? Seems to me I've seen all this before" Gould wrote on Twitter.
Pappas also took to the social media platform to make his thoughts known.
"Yawn: Rugby league clubs want CEO Dave Smith gone or threaten to leave competition" he wrote.
Pappas later tweeted a screen grab of a newspaper story with the headline: Smith to go or we go, clubs tell NRL.
Next to it he wrote: "To be clear: this does not represent the Rabbitohs' position."
