After four years in exile, banned winger Sandor Earl will make his return to the NRL with champions Melbourne Storm.

The 28-year-old has agreed to a one-year-deal with the premiers after completing the peptides trafficking suspension handed down by ASADA in 2013.

The Storm plan to make an official announcement later this week, with Earl posting on Facebook that he is poised to "announce a new chapter and a new beginning".

"A new club opens the door to a group that will become family and brothers. I walk in a new man armed with a fresh perspective full of new goals and an extremely positive outlook on the future," Earl wrote.

"I have overcome adversity and ultimately that will set me up for the greatest success."

The former Raiders winger had been in talks with Melbourne since the beginning of the year, with his ban elapsing in late August.

The Eels, Dragons and Raiders were also believed to be interested but Earl said at the time he believed the Storm would be the club to get the best out of him.

He moved to Melbourne during the suspension and opened a gym, which he has used to keep himself fit as well as undertaking jujitsu wrestling classes to prepare himself for the contact of rugby league.

Earl was suspended after a large-scale investigation that probed a number of NRL clubs in 2013, most notably the Cronulla Sharks.

The New Zealand-born Earl made his NRL debut back in 2009 with the Roosters before joining Penrith the following year.

In mid 2012, he joined Canberra and hit his straps, scoring 17 tries in 29 games there.

He will face a tough task to dislodge the Storm's star wing duo in Josh Addo-Carr and Suliasi Vunivalu.
