The NRL has confirmed four themed rounds for 2015.

NRL marketing boss Lewis Pullen said a meeting of club CEOs in Auckland on Friday decided the rounds that would target the code's big issues.

Round three will be dubbed "Play NRL", encouraging children and families to participate in rugby league.

Round 10 is Women In League, acknowledging the key role women play in the sport, and nine weeks later will be Heritage Round.

And Round 22 has been allocated the Indigenous Round, supporting the contribution of indigenous communities to league.

The season kicks off with this weekend's Auckland Nines tournament at Eden Park.
