NRL reduces five-day turnarounds

The NRL has slightly reduced five-day turnarounds this season amid a pledge to further decrease player workloads in 2017.

The NRL has managed to slightly decrease the demands on players after reducing five-day turnarounds in 2016.

The league on Friday announced its schedule for the the final six rounds of this season's premiership.

As a result, the number of dreaded five-day turnarounds has been reduced from 46 last year to 43 this year.

The NRL said the one-off cycle of Thursday to Monday football had made any further decreases difficult.

However, with the end of Monday night games in 2017, the NRL has pledged to further reduce five-day turnarounds for teams next year.
