South Sydney veteran John Sutton insists another NRL premiership won't tempt him to change his mind on wanting to play an unprecedented 16th season with the foundation club next year.
Sutton is still without a deal next season despite both he and coach Anthony Seibold previously declaring a desire for the former captain to continue playing in 2019.
But with the Rabbitohs just two games away from a second grand final, Sutton has yet to finalise a contract extension.
"I definitely want to play on. I feel like I'm still playing good football and can still hold my own. There's no point me quitting," Sutton told AAP.
After Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess was handed a lifetime deal last week, Sutton hopes the club can turn their attention on finishing negotiations on a new deal.
"I think I'm at the bottom of the pile," Sutton said.
"I'm not going to be around much longer, but I'm happy with the way things have been going for myself this year. That's all I can really do."
Asked whether the prospect of bowing out with another title could sway his thinking, Sutton said: "Nah, no way.
"I feel like I'm playing good footy and I think I can still do a job for the team. I definitely would like to play on next year. Hopefully these things get sorted out soon."
Sutton, 33, is one of nine players remaining from the side who broke a 43-year wait for a premiership, including current captain Greg Inglis.
Inglis took over the role after Sutton was sacked following an alcohol-related arrest in the United States in 2015.
"For me personally, I get the inspiration off him (Inglis) when he's leading with his actions. I really get confident when I see him out there doing the things that he does," Sutton said.
"He's a very damaging football player. On his day, He's the best player in the world. It's just a job to be able to play alongside him, and I'd love to do it for one more year."
