The NRL is expected to issue an infraction notice to Sydney Roosters prop Martin Kennedy late on Wednesday afternoon.

The notice relates to ASADA's investigation into rugby league and would result in a two-year ban for the 26-year-old.

Kennedy returned to the Roosters this season, after an unhappy one-year stint with Brisbane in 2014.

Broncos boss Paul White said the club's decision to release Kennedy was football related.

"It had nothing to do with the story that appeared in the paper today," White said on Wednesday.

"We've obviously restructured our entire roster and Martin was one of those players that moved onto another club as part of that restructure.

"It had nothing to do and was totally unrelated to what I might say is a rumour that was in one of the papers this morning.

"We've never had any contact with any agencies.

"Martin's no longer at our club so we've got no cause to make any further comment on it."
