A NSW mid-north coast beach where a man was bitten by a great white shark remains closed three days later.
Local police and council will meet on Monday afternoon to decide whether to reopen Black Head Beach, north of Foster, after a man was attacked by a 2.5-metre shark on Friday.
David Quinlivan, 65, was on his surf ski when the shark bit his ankle and dragged him off his board.
He managed to paddle ashore before being airlifted to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital for emergency surgery.
A biologist from the Department of Primary Industries has inspected the bite pattern and determined it was "most likely" from a great white shark.
Local lifesavers will sweep the mid north coastline with an inflatable rescue boat on Monday afternoon.
There have been no official sightings of sharks in the area since the attack, a Surf Life Saving NSW spokesman said on Monday.
The attack was the 13th to occur in NSW waters this year.
Beaches in the area remain unpatrolled, with volunteer surf lifesavers due to pitch the flags for the new season on September 19.
