NSW bikie biter found guilty

A man who bit the nose of a former bikie will be sentenced later in the year after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm.

A Sydney man who bit off a chunk of a former bikie's nose has been found guilty of intentional grievous bodily harm.

Nicholas Harafias, 29, pleaded not guilty to the charge during his District Court trial in Sydney but was found guilty by a jury on Monday afternoon.

Harafias told the court he went to Peter Zervas' Leichhardt apartment after becoming aware of "gossip" suggesting bikies were targeting his family.

The personal trainer said he thought Mr Zervas was connected to the Hells Angels and could help him find out what was going on.

But after a few minutes of small talk Mr Zervas pinned him up against a wall and in a moment of shock and fear he lashed out, the court heard.

Harafias is due to be sentenced in Sydney's District Court in September.
