NSW crime figure charged over death threat

A Sydney crime figure has been charged over a series of threatening phone calls he made this year.

A 43-year-old underworld figure has been charged over a series of intimidating phone calls, including a death threat.

The man, who is prominent in the Sydney building industry, was arrested at a CDB hotel after 3pm on Thursday and was charged about eight hours later.

He's accused of using a carriage service to make threat to kill and using carriage service to make threat to cause serious harm.

The charges relate to alleged threats made against a number of people from April to September this year.

He is due to appear in Central Local Court on Friday.
