NSW man arrested after headbutting officer

A man will face court after he allegedly assaulted a police officer at Sydney's Central Railway train station, leaving him with minor injuries.

A man has been charged after allegedly head-butting a police officer at a train station in inner Sydney.

Police said the 41-year-old was seen acting offensively on a platform at Central Railway station on Thursday afternoon, and then became verbally aggressive toward nearby officers.

He allegedly tried to resist arrest and head-butted one of the senior constables as they tried to apprehend him.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court on Friday on charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, common assault, resist arrest, offensive language and fail to comply with direction.

The injured officer was treated for minor soft tissue injuries.
