NSW man charged after alleged gun threats

Police say a pistol-wielding man is due to face court after he threatened to shoot another man at a Sydney business on Christmas Eve.

Police have arrested a man just moments after he allegedly threatened to shoot a man at a business in Sydney's southwest.

Police say the 19-year-old man went into the Kingsgrove business around 1.15pm (AEDT) on Tuesday and allegedly threatened the 23-year-old owner with a pistol.

The armed man then demanded money and threatened to shoot the other man, police say.

A worker who witnessed the incident alerted police who arrested the man a short time later.

The 19-year-old was charged with assault with intent to rob, being armed with a dangerous weapon, and possessing a prohibited firearm.

He was refused bail to appear via video link at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
