A NSW man has been arrested after police found him with a stun gun disguised as a smartphone.

Police say they searched the 50-year-old's car after they noticed him and another man acting suspiciously in car park in the town of Wyee, south of Newcastle, on Saturday afternoon.

They found the disguised weapon in the boot and confiscated it.

The man, from Tacoma, has been refused bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court on Sunday.
