A NSW truck driver has been charged over the deaths of a father and son after a railway crossing crash in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region.
Police said the 45-year-old man from Goolma failed to stop his prime mover truck at the crossing in Kelleberrin about 5pm (WST) on Monday, hitting the rear end of a stationary Holden Commodore.
The impact forced the car off the road into nearby bushland, where it burst into flames.
The driver and his son, believed to be a 54-year-old and a 21-year-old from Kalgoorlie, were unable to get out of the car and died at the scene.
The truck driver will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday on two counts of dangerous driving causing death.
