The son of a woman bashed to death in Sydney's southwest has posted an emotional tribute to his mother after his father was charged with her murder.
Officers were called to a unit in Bankstown around 8.30pm (AEDT) on Monday where they found Margaret Tannous, 47, suffering serious head injuries.
She was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she later died.
Her husband, 55-year-old George Tannous, later turned up to Bankstown Police station where he was charged with murder, police said.
He was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.
The couple's son posted a photo of his mother and an emotional tribute on Facebook early on Tuesday.
"My mother my angel my life my queen the closest person to me. How could this happen to you," he wrote.
"You were the strongest woman, the strongest PERSON i knew, you taught me that the most power you have in this life is in your brain and not your fists or muscles, you taught me to do right by people even though they do wrong to you ...
" ... everything in this world you sacrificed for me and my sister ... I'm so proud to be called your son."
At Bankstown Local Court, Tannous had bail formally refused. He did not enter a plea.
Magistrate Elaine Truscott adjourned the matter until April 16 at Burwood Local Court.
Tannous, who had a shaved head and showed little emotion, asked through an Arabic translator for the matter to stay in Bankstown.
But Magistrate Truscott explained it had to be sent to Burwood because it was a "serious" matter.
Tannous shrugged his shoulders but accepted the decision.
