A 20-year-old NSW mother has been granted bail over charges relating to a car crash that killed her two-year-old daughter and critically injured her 11-month-old son.

Tori Shipman, 20, was allegedly behind the wheel on the night of August 17 when her sedan rolled down an embankment on the New England Highway near Willow Tree, south of Tamworth.

Her young daughter Jannali died at the scene and her baby son Atticus remains in Newcastle Children's Hospital after suffering critical injuries.

She has been charged with several offences, including dangerous driving occasioning death and driving whilst disqualified.

Police allege one of the children was incorrectly restrained.

She appeared before Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday and was granted bail to reappear on October 28.
