NSW officers plead not guilty to assault

Four prison officers, accused of assaulting an inmate at Sydney's Silverwater jail have pleaded not guilty.

Four prison officers have pleaded not guilty to assaulting an inmate in a Sydney jail.

The 46-year-old inmate was taken to hospital in April with bruising and swelling after he was allegedly assaulted at the Silverwater facility.

Legal representatives for Paul David, 58, Paul Hammond, 49, Saomaauga Faitua, 50, and Daniel Curry, 28, entered pleas of not guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray in Burwood Local Court on Tuesday.
