NSW Parliament resumes after winter break

The NSW Legislative Assembly will sit this week for the start of the spring session of parliament.

Fighting corruption will be high on the agenda when NSW MPs return to Macquarie Street this week.

The state's lower house will sit for the first time since June on Tuesday, days before the expected public release of former High Court judge Murray Gleeson's ICAC review.

The anti-corruption body has been under a cloud since April, when the nation's highest court delivered a damaging finding that the commission had acted outside its powers when it investigated top NSW prosecutor Margaret Cunneen SC over allegations relating to her behaviour as a private citizen.

That decision prompted Premier Mike Baird to move a wide-ranging review of the ICAC's powers, led by Mr Gleeson, who was due to report back to the government on Friday.

Any legislative changes necessary to beef up the ICAC - or wind it back - are expected to be outlined in the coming days.

Also slated for this week is a parliamentary grilling of high-profile figures including ICAC Commissioner Megan Latham and ICAC Inspector David Levine, who has previously voiced criticism of the ICAC's handling of the Cunneen probe.
