The condition of a six-year-old girl has reportedly improved after she was found unconscious on playing equipment in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to Jamisontown just after 8am on Friday, where they found a girl unconscious at a childcare centre, with reports she had become caught in a piece of clothing while climbing on play equipment.
The child was flown by CareFlight helicopter to Westmead Children's Hospital in a critical condition and she was placed in an induced coma.
It was expected she would be woken from the coma and Network Seven has reported her condition has improved.
The incident has shocked the local community.
"It's heartbreaking, no parent wants to get that phone call," local businesswoman Susan Blenman told the Seven Network.
"The staff there, I can imagine they'd be traumatised as well."
Worker Ali Elali said he is still coming to terms with what happened.
"I wouldn't wish that upon anybody in the world," he said.
"It's just absolutely gut-wrenching."
