Smash repairers are being urged to look out for vehicle damage consistent with a suspected hit-and-run that left a man dead in Sydney's west.

Emergency services found the man on a footpath on Richmond Road, Dean Park at about 12.30am (AEDT) on Friday.

The 30-year-old Quakers Hill man was taken to Westmead Hospital but later died.
