NSW police bust bogus charity collectors

NSW police have charged a middle aged man and woman who fleeced cash by pretending to be collecting money for a cancer charity.

A middle-aged man and woman have been charged in NSW for hoodwinking people out of cash by pretending to be collecting for a cancer charity.

Police say the man, 47, and woman, 45, were caught with bogus identification claiming they worked for a cancer charity after police were notified about their suspicious activity on a street at Lake Macquarie on Monday morning.

Police have charged them with fraud by soliciting donations.

Both are due before Toronto Local Court on March 5.
