NSW Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian and Premier Mike Baird have promised to fast-track projects including new schools, regional highway upgrades and the Western Harbour Tunnel road crossing.
Ms Berejiklian on Tuesday declared she would deliver back-to-back surpluses over the forward estimates along with record health and education spending for 2015/16 when she handed down her debut budget.
The government is also bringing forward $591 million to make sure state-building projects are "shovel-ready" the moment the first of the cash-raising electricity network leases comes through.
"We are not waiting any longer - this money will get these projects underway or ready to go as soon as possible so the people of NSW can start seeing the benefits," Mr Baird said.
The premier and Transport Minister Andrew Constance are expected to don hard hats in northwest Sydney on Wednesday to talk up progress on the Metro Northwest, which will connect through to the city and southwest suburbs.
