NSW SES boss resigns after drink driving

NSW SES Commissioner Adam Dent has resigned after being convicted of mid-range drink driving.

NSW SES Commissioner Adam Dent has resigned after being convicted of mid-range drink driving earlier this week.

Mr Dent was on Thursday convicted at Wollongong Local Court and his licence was suspended, NSW Emergency Services Minister David Elliott said in a statement.

"(On Friday) morning I discussed this conviction and other driving matters with Mr Dent, which led to my decision, regretfully, to accept his resignation," he said in a statement.

Mr Dent was appointed commissioner in 2014 and Deputy Commissioner Greg Newton will step up into his position while a replacement is found.
