NSW sex offender lured kids with lollies

Greg Druery went to incredible lengths to lure children by befriending their parents and offering them gifts before sexually abusing them.

Sydney man Greg Druery lured his victims with lollies, bought them clothes and toys and once even had dinner with the parents of a teenager he had just abused.

Appearing via video link at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday, the 51-year-old sat motionless with his hands crossed as his defence entered guilty pleas on his behalf to 41 child sex offences against eight young victims.

Court documents state Druery befriended his victims' parents while he was a youth worker at a Baptist Church in 1992 and an assistant junior coach at a baseball club in Sydney in 2000.

Having gained the family's trust he then preyed on their children.

In once instance of abuse in 2004, he gave a then 14-year-old boy from his baseball team $100 after he got the teen to perform oral sex on him.

Straight after the abuse, Druery drove the 14-year-old home and was invited to dinner with the family.

Then in 2013, police say Druery posed as a Salvation Army worker at a Vanuatu school.

While there he abused at least two boys, buying them ice-cream and inviting them to swim at his resort pool before sexually assaulting them.

Upon returning to Sydney in 2014, he sought to continue the abuse and offered to pay for the two students to come stay with him on an Australian visit.

While staying at his house, he would take showers with them, offering to massage them while secretly filming the whole thing.

In other instances while in Australia, he would offer the children cash incentives to perform lewd acts with him, court facts state.

In many cases after the abuse, he would ask the victims to keep everything a secret.

"What happened tonight is our little secret because some people won't understand and I could get into serious trouble," he told one victim.

Druery was initially facing 63 charges but many offences were withdrawn upon his guilty pleas on Wednesday.

The 51-year-old will face sentencing proceedings at Parramatta District Court on October 9.
