NSW teacher search returns to home town

Grandmother and much-loved teacher Sharon Edwards hasn't been seen since March with extensive searches in northern NSW so far proving fruitless.

Almost three months after teacher and grandmother Sharon Edwards disappeared, detectives have returned to her former home town and retraced her last known movements.

Ms Edwards was last seen alive on March 14 and reported missing a few days later after failing to turn up to work at Coutts Crossing Public School in northern NSW.

The 55-year-old's car was found parked in her Grafton driveway but Ms Edwards, along with her purse, house keys and mobile phone, were missing.

This week detectives investigating Ms Edward's suspected murder doorknocked homes around the tiny town of Lawrence and spoke with locals at the general store.

"(We are) trying to jog people's memories and trying to establish her movements on Sunday March 15," Detective Inspector Darren Jameson said.

It is understood Ms Edwards' husband, John, often stayed at a property in Lawrence, 30km from Grafton, which he and his wife also owned.

Mr Edwards told his family he last saw his wife at their Riverdale Ct home in Grafton on the night of March 14.

Detectives have since traced her last known whereabouts to the Lawrence area in the early hours of the next morning.

Police say this week's Lawrence operation is yet to yield any new information.
