NSW teen charged over wheelchair assault

An 18-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly spat and punched a man in a wheelchair during an argument at Fairfield Train station.

A teenager will face court after he allegedly punched and spat on a wheelchair-bound man in Sydney's west.

The 47-year-old, who has severe arthritis, was at Fairfield train station on Thursday afternoon when he became involved in an argument with the 18-year-old, police said.

It's alleged the younger man punched the older man several times and spat at him, before leaving the area.

Police said the 18-year-old went to Liverpool Police station a few hours later, where he was arrested and charged with assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Cabramatta man was given conditional bail and is due to appear in Fairfield Local Court on March 13.
