NSW teen thrown from ute tray in rollover

A 16-year-old boy thrown from the tray of a ute driven by an allegedly drunk P-plate driver is in a serious condition in hospital.

A teenage boy is in a serious condition after he was thrown from the tray of a ute being driven by an alleged drunk-driver when it rolled on the NSW south coast.

The 16-year-old and another teen were unrestrained in the tray of the ute when the P-plate driver lost control about 10.40pm on Sunday at Yawal, west of Nowra.

He has multiple fractures and internal injuries and was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a serious condition, while two other 17-year-olds in the ute were also injured.

Police said the 17-year-old driver recorded a positive breath-alcohol test result.
