Just a month after being dropped to reserve grade, Penrith dynamo Tyrone Peachey says he can improve a lot more after being tagged as a future representative star.
Peachey showed his rare array of talent in a five-star display for NSW City in their upset 44-30 win over Country at Tamworth's Scully Park on Sunday.
Rewind to NRL round six and the 24-year-old from Wellington in central NSW was given a rude awakening when relegated to NSW Cup by Panthers coach Anthony Griffin.
However after receiving a call up for Brad Fittler's City side, the 24-year-old ensured NSW coach Laurie Daley keeps a close eye on him when he and Panthers clubmate Bryce Cartwright tore Country to shreds on the right edge.
"I'd go and watch him every week," Fittler said. "He's a beauty."
While not in the State of Origin picture this year, Peachey did his future chances no harm with Fittler praising his ability to play anywhere from second row, hooker, outside backs and halves.
After winger David Nofoaluma left the City-Country game early with a head knock, Peachey was shifted from lock to the centres and didn't miss a beat.
Cronulla's Jack Bird is shaping as the leading contender for the NSW utility spot this year, however Peachey won many fans as he finished the game with two try assists and 114 running metres.
Despite being a standout on Sunday, Peachey said he wasn't where he needed to be and wanted to use his City-Country experience as a stepping stone.
"There's a lot of improvement I can work on, but I'm pretty happy to make this team and get the win," Peachey said.
"Now I just have to go back to the Panthers and get a few wins on the trot because it's getting to that part of the season where you need a few wins."
