A woman who allegedly led police on a 150-kilometre cross-country chase in NSW will face court, charged over the alleged theft of a taxi.

A 56-year-old cab driver was dropping a passenger at Dubbo Railway Station in central NSW on Saturday morning when police allege the woman got in the taxi and drove off.

The 27-year-old woman also allegedly did not pay for fuel at a Dubbo petrol station, before heading for Orange.

Police attempted to pursue the taxi on three occasions between Dubbo and Orange, but each attempt was called off for safety reasons.

The woman was arrested in Orange where she was refused bail.

She is due to appear in Orange Bail Court on Sunday charged with multiple offences including being in a police pursuit, driving at speed and driving dangerously/recklessly.
