A woman is fighting for life after being trapped by her own car in a driveway in Sydney's west.

A woman who was pinned by her own car in a driveway in Sydney's west is fighting for life in hospital.

Police believe the woman, 25, got out of her car to open a gate while the car was still in gear.

Emergency services were called to the house at Bossley Park on Sunday night after a neighbour discovered the driver unconscious with her head pinned by the open door of her car, while the engine was still running.

The neighbour performed CPR, before the driver was taken to Liverpool Hospital by emergency services, where she remains in a serious condition.
