NSW woman wakes to half-naked man in home

A Newcastle man has been arrested after a woman found him standing in her lounge room dressed only in his underpants.

A shocked Newcastle woman has woken to find a man standing inside her lounge room in his underpants.

The man fled the house on Lewis Street in Maryville when the woman told him to leave, after she made the surprise discovery just before midnight on Tuesday.

Police arrested the intruder shortly afterwards when they spotting him running along the road in his state of undress.

When nabbed, police say he was carrying a pile of women's clothing and a woman's wig.

The man has been charged with enter dwelling with intent and peep and pry, and refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday.
