New Zealand all-rounder Kane Williamson has been cleared to return to international bowling after a remodelled action was cleared by the ICC.

Williamson hasn't bowled his offspinners since July after his action came under suspicion while in the West Indies.

Analysis showed his elbow extension exceeded the 15 degrees of tolerance permitted under ICC regulations but he was allowed to go away and remedy the problem.

New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Tuesday the ICC had cleared Williamson's new action.

Williamson is primarily a batsman but he has taken 24 Test wickets at an average of 40.66, 23 ODI wickets at an average of 30.91 and three T20 wickets.

Sri Lankan offspinner Sachithra Senanayake's action was also cleared.
