NZ designer's green outfit at Oscars

A New Zealand designed suit made partially from plastic bottles will be worn at the Oscar's by a star of the Twilight films.

A New Zealand designer's tuxedo made partially of recycled plastic bottles will be worn at the Academy Awards.

Jomnarn Dul, 23, from H Brothers, designed the sustainable tuxedo which won the men's category of Red Carpet Green Dress, an eco-fashion competition organised by Suzy Amis Cameron.

Cameron is married to Avatar director James Cameron. The couple live on a property in Wairarapa.

Actor Kellan Lutz, who played vampire Emmet Cullen in the Twilight films, will wear the tuxedo down the red carpet at the Academy Awards in March.

Dul designed the garment as part of a range of suits which contain up to 25 plastic bottles, and were developed in partnerships with rapper will.i.am and Coca-Cola.

Dul said she was inspired by will.i.am's distinctive sense of style.
