NZ fight date in doubt after Tua injury

David Tua's comeback fight against Russian heavyweight Alexander Ustinov may be delayed by a calf muscle injury suffered by the New Zealand boxer.

David Tua's fight against Russian Alexander Ustinov could be postponed after the veteran New Zealand heavyweight suffered a leg injury.

Promoter David Higgins said Tua, 40, suffered a grade one calf muscle tear during training this week, which may force the fight in Hamilton to be moved back from August 31.

He told LiveSport Radio that a decision will be made after Tua's fitness is assessed following a scan this week.

Higgins said any postponement of the fight - Tua's first in more than two years - would see it moved to the following month.
