New Zealand sports minister Murray McCully says the 2015 Cricket World Cup match schedule is "an excellent result" for the country.
The fixture list was released on Tuesday and Eden Park will host a semi-final.
Australia and New Zealand are jointly hosting the tournament and 23 of the 49 matches will be played in New Zealand.
"I am delighted with the quality of fixtures allocated to New Zealand," McCully said.
"Christchurch's Hagley Oval has been provisionally awarded the opening match ... this gives Christchurch a target to work toward and signals its re-emergence as a strong tourist and sporting destination."
The NZ government is contributing $5 million to the tournament.
"Given the success of the 1992 Cricket World Cup, I'm confident New Zealand will rise to the occasion in 2015," McCully said.
