New Zealand netball skipper Casey Kopua will also take on the captaincy of the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in the trans-Tasman netball league.

Kopua replaces New Zealand teammate Laura Langman, who has moved to the Northern Mystics.

New Magic coach Julie Fitzgerald has named another experienced Silver Fern Leana de Bruin as vice-captain.

"They're the two senior players in the team who will give a lot of guidance to the younger ones," Fitzgerald said on Friday.

"On court, there will be other leaders, but Casey and Leana will be the obvious ones who are driving us at training and leading us on court."

Kopua, de Bruin and Langman are all in the Silver Ferns' tour party that left Auckland on Thursday for a five-match tour of Britain.

However, Kopua, who is coming back from tidy-up ankle surgery in December, isn't in the 12-strong playing squad, but will be a training partner.
