NZ showcased to millions in US

New Zealand has been showcased to almost 8 million US viewers on an episode of The Bachelor.

America's loved-up Bachelor hopefuls have spent a week navigating New Zealand's North Island, showcasing the area to millions of US viewers.

Eight girls joined the US's star of The Bachelor, Juan Pablo Galavis, on location in New Zealand in the episode which aired US television on Tuesday night (US time).

Over the one week shoot, the group travelled to Lake Taupo, Rotorua and the Waikato region.

It's not the first time New Zealand has featured on the reality show, with Queenstown and the Bay of Islands the host of the final two episodes of season 13 filmed in 2009.

"It was great coming back," host Chris Harrison said.

"The North Island was spectacular and I got to experience some amazing fly-fishing."

Filming of this season's episode was arranged through Tourism New Zealand's (TNZ) International Media Programme and took place in October.

Contestants got to experience some of New Zealand's greatest attractions including jet boating, OGO, Te Puia in Rotorua and a visit to the setting of Hobbiton.

TNZ says the episode was watched by 7.8 million US viewers.
