NZ to cook up its own MKR

New Zealand is to get its own version of My Kitchen Rules after the Australian competitive cooking show proved a ratings hit across the Tasman.

The popular Australian competitive cooking show My Kitchen Rules will cross the Tasman this year, with a New Zealand version on the boil.

Kiwi contestants are being sought for the show after the Australian version proved a ratings hit for New Zealand's TV2 network.

"New Zealanders just couldn't get enough of My Kitchen Rules, with 2013 being the highest-rating season yet," said programmer John Kelly.

TV2 has done a deal with format-owners Seven Network Australia, Endemol, through which the format was licensed, and Imagination TV, which will produce the first local version of the show.

More details about the 2014 show are yet to be announced.
