The name Obama is common in Kenya, but two mothers told AFP they decided to honour President Obama's visit to the country over the weekend by naming their sons after him.

Lucy Akinyi Okoth says she wanted to honour Mr Obama, whose father was a Kenyan.

"I have decided to call my baby AirForceOne Barack Obama so that we can all remember Obama's visit to Kenya because it is a huge blessing," she told AFP.

While Lucy Atieno named her son AirForce One.

"I have been told that it is the best aeroplane because it carries a very powerful leader of America who is also a Kenyan," she said.

Nurse, Dolphin Akinyi said the Kisumu Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital had six other children born last week who were also named after Barack Obama.

"Yesterday from 8:30pm we had eight deliveries and all the babies are in a very stable condition."
