James O'Connor says he is already talking to teams about a potential Super Rugby return that would put him back in the Wallabies' frame for the 2019 World Cup.
The 26-year-old is home for the Brisbane Global Rugby Tens but his contract with Toulon expires at the end of the French Top 14 season.
Former Test coach Robbie Deans urged O'Connor this week to return to Australia and realise his rugby potential ahead of the World Cup in Japan, saying it would be the "worst experience in sport" to look back and think of what might have been.
"I got told about (those comments). He probably knows me better than I know me, Robbie," O'Connor told reporters on Friday.
"At the moment, I don't exactly know what I'm doing.
"I'm talking to clubs in Toulon, Japan and Australia, et cetera.
"There is that hunger, obviously, to play for the Wallabies and that's always been there."
O'Connor attempted an Australian rugby comeback in 2015 but failed to score a try for the Queensland Reds as he battled knee issues, before heading back overseas with Toulon.
He has played 44 times for the Wallabies, his last appearance coming in September 2013 in a victory over Argentina in Perth.
Sporting a new platinum blonde haircut, O'Connor says he is fit and firing these days, although an ankle problem suffered at training on Friday morning could put his tens involvement in doubt.
"The body's good; the mind's really good," he said.
"I've come back and I feel like I'm a new beast. I'm ready to play.
"I think I lost my passion for the game a little bit and I've rediscovered it.
"I've had a pretty decent start to the season in France - we're still only about halfway through.
"I want to try and win a title there and then we'll have a think (about my future)."
