O'Donoghue set to face SANZAR judiciary

Queensland Reds forward Ed O'Donoghue will appear before a SANZAR judicial hearing on Monday after being sent off against the Rebels.

Queensland backrower Ed O'Donoghue will appear before a SANZAR judicial hearing on Monday over an alleged eye-gouge which led to him being sent off in the Reds' Super Rugby loss to Melbourne.

O'Donoghue was marched for a 79th minute facial to Rebels No.8 and captain Scott Higginbotham in Brisbane which was deemed to be a gouge by the television match official on Saturday.

The Rebels landed a subsequent penalty to win 30-27.

Judicial officer for the video conference hearing will be Jannie Lubbe SC with the matter set down for 5pm (AEST).

Queensland believed they were robbed by the belated reversed penalty by television match official Steve Lescinski.

Reds skipper James Horwill and coach Richard Graham were furious Lescinski overturned referee Steve Walsh's original call as they were setting up a lineout 50m downfield from the scuffle between O'Donoghue and Higginbotham.
