Off-duty firey rescues man from Vic blaze

An off-duty firefighter has saved his elderly neighbour from a fire that completely destroyed the home in the seaside Victorian town of Ocean Grove.

An off-duty firefighter has rescued his elderly neighbour from a fire which completely destroyed a home in coastal Victoria.

The CFA was called to the Ocean Grove fire shortly after 11pm on Sunday, with the single-storey home well alight when crews arrived.

The firefighter alerted his neighbour and helped him evacuate from the house, which was destroyed by the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown but has not been deemed suspicious. Fire investigators will be at the property on Monday.
