Oil Search boss Peter Botten's annual pay packet has grown by $US1 million as the company's profit surged despite lower oil prices.
The chief executive of the operator of the massive Papua New Guinea LNG project received remuneration worth $US5.7 million in 2014, up from $US4.8 million in 2013, as Oil Search achieved a 72 per cent rise in annual net profit.
Mr Botten's pay packet included $US1.7 million in short term bonuses, double the short term bonuses received in 2013, as production nearly tripled and revenue doubled during the start-up of the PNG LNG project.
His base salary was $US2 million, almost unchanged from the previous year.
Chief financial officer Stephen Gardiner also had a fatter annual pay packet, taking home $US1.4 million in 2014, up from $US1.2 million in the previous year, the company's annual report shows.
Oil Search's executive general manager of PNG Operations Paul Cholako took home $US1.57 million, up from $US1.43 million in 2013.
Oil Search's 2014 profit growth came despite a $US130 million cut to the value of its exploration assets, and Mr Botten has said the company is financially and operationally strong enough to weather a long period of lower oil prices.
