Stephen O'Keefe will play his first game of the Big Bash League season for the Sydney Sixers after overcoming a calf injury.

The left-arm spinner will be part of the Sixers side to face the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Monday night.

O'Keefe, who made his Test debut for Australia in October, suffered the injury in the first BBL trial match of the summer on December 14.

He joins a 14-man Sixers squad that is 3-1 and sitting in outright second after four matches in place of Luke Doran, while Ben Dwarshuis also returns to the squad for the first time since the round two clash with the Hobart Hurricanes.

Mitchell Starc has been named in an extendedsquad but will only play if not selected in the Sydney Test commencing on Tuesday.
