On court proposal stuns tennis player

Dutch tennis player Michaella Krajicek was shocked when her boyfriend proposed to her on court after a match.

Michaella Krajicek enjoyed a love game of her own at the WTA 's-Hertogenbosch grasscourt tournament when her tennis-playing boyfriend proposed to her on court immediately after she won her first round match.

It was taking care of business at first on Monday for the 25-year-old Dutchwoman as she defeated Jana Cepelova 6-3 4-6 6-1 to reach the second round of the Wimbledon buildup tournament.

And then - the icing on the cake of a perfect day for the former world junior No.1 - Krajicek's boyfriend, German player Martin Emmrich, stepped onto the court, went down on one knee, and proposed.

Krajicek said yes.

"It was a huge surprise!" a beaming Krajicek said afterwards.

"I mean, we spoke about marriage a couple of times before, but I didn't expect it now. It's very special.

"I'm really happy and I feel so lucky that he did it like this. We met here one year ago and I think it's such a very special place to do it.

"The first 10 or 15 seconds when he came on the court I thought, 'Okay, it's nice to see him, but this is strange.'

"But then I saw he had tears in his eyes, and I was like, 'Oh wow,' and I realised what was going to happen! I was so focused on him the whole time I didn't hear anything he was saying!

"I just knew I was for sure going to say yes. That was all I knew in that moment."
