One dead but two found in Vic house fire

Two people missing after a Victorian house fire have been found safe and well but another family member has died in the blaze.

One person has died but another two people have been found safe after a Victorian house fire.

One body has been found in the remains of the Mount Helen house, near Ballarat, after an explosion about 1.30am on Friday.

Two adult children who were also missing after the fire have been found safe and well in Ballarat, Senior Sergeant David Hermit said.

"It was a fairly intense fire," Sen Sgt Hermit told reporters at the scene.

the cause of the fire did not appear to be suspicious although investigations were continuing, he said.

Police earlier said the occupants of the home were a 43-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man.

The family had recently moved to Mount Helen from Ballarat.

Two dogs also died in the fire.
