One dead in central Victorian crash

A driver has died after they lost control of their car and hit a tree in central Victoria.

One person has died after their car hit the back of another vehicle and then ran into a tree.

Police say the accident happened at 5.15pm on Saturday on the Wimmera Highway in central Victoria's Newbridge.

It appears the driver lost control of their vehicle after they hit the back of a car and then clipped another car travelling in the opposite direction before crashing into a tree.

The driver died at the scene, police say.

The occupants of the other cars were not injured.
